ABOUT

Who We Are

Good Flock is a national initiative working to shift how Australia thinks about ageing – from decline and dependency, to growth, contribution and care across all stages of life.

We see ageing as more than an individual experience – it’s a cultural force that shapes how we live, care and relate across generations. When we change how we think about it, we unlock new ways of belonging, contributing and building a stronger, more caring society.

WHAT WE DO

Here’s how we’re doing it

We work across stories, systems and communities to shift the culture of ageing in Australia.

We Shift the Story

Through storytelling, media and public reflection, we invite people to rethink what ageing, care and contribution can look like.

We Spark New Practice

We catalyse, support and share initiatives that bring fresh ideas
to life – locally and at scale.

We Support Changemakers

We connect, amplify and resource people who are already leading
the way.

We Work with Systems

We partner with organisations and governments ready to question assumptions and build something better.

KNOW MORE ABOUT US

Our story

Good Flock was born from a mix of deep frustration and quiet wonder.

Frustration at how limited and slow change has been in this space – despite the clear and growing need.

And wonder at glimpses of how much better things could be, if we approached ageing with more imagination, care and collective purpose.

One of those glimpses came while watching a murmuration of starlings – thousands of birds moving in synchronised, fluid motion.

It was beautiful. Surprising. Alive.

And it offered a powerful metaphor for what cultural change could feel like.

The name Good Flock grew from that image: a reminder that meaningful change isn’t driven by one leader or a rigid plan – but by many individuals moving with shared purpose, adapting and creating something new together.

In a space so often shaped by fear and disconnection, we wanted to offer something joyful.

Something that might stop people in their tracks – and spark a new way of seeing.

That’s the flock we’re helping to build.

What we’re learning

We believe in reflecting and sharing what we learn along the way—about what it really takes to shift culture, grow participation, and build lasting change.

Who’s behind Good Flock

We’re a small but passionate team, united by a shared belief that ageing can be something far richer, more connected and more hopeful than we’ve been taught to expect.

Our work is guided by this core group – and brought to life in collaboration with a much wider network of partners, changemakers, contributors and supporters.
