What if we designed places to grow old together?
“So how can we do these things differently? But in the meantime, all of us can connect with people around us. And then we can support the young families next to us and the young families can support the older person again. Not as a burden, but as just people looking out for one another.”
– Lia Parsons
When developers from a neighbouring retirement village tried to buy her land, Lia decided to take a different approach to ageing into her own hands. In this conversation, Lia talks about the importance of human connection, planning for ageing at home, and how her multigenerational co-housing community, Miller’s Corner, has become a place where people of all ages and abilities can belong, contribute and grow old together.
