Honouring migrant lives through intimate home documentaries.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have lived my entire life with all 4 grandparents still around (and lucky enough to remember time spent with 3 of my great-grandparents). But in the past 6 months, the realisation that my grandparents won’t be around forever really sunk in. Not just them, but their entire generation.
This is their final chapter.”
– Kat Zam
Inspired by her own Greek grandparents, Kat Zam’s mini documentary series shares the life and migration stories of Australia’s ‘YiaYias and Papous,’ through unscripted interviews in their homes, woven with treasured photographs, personal objects and everyday moments in kitchens and gardens. Greek Diaspora Stories is an offering of remembrance – honouring the many lives migrant grandparents have lived and left behind, and the ways their strength, wisdom and resilience continue to shape the world around them.
