VICTORIA,
IT’S TIME
TO FLOCK IT!
$20,000 prize pool. Open Aug 21 – Nov 20

Flock It is a statewide search for the people, communities, organisations and creators already showing us a richer way to age, connect and care.
At Good Flock, we think it’s time to flock the idea that ageing is a decline to be feared. That older people are somehow less relevant. That generations are pitted against each other, or that care is a burden to be carried alone.
We think there’s a much richer version available to us. One where we keep growing, learning and contributing as we age. Where generations know each other and show up for each other. And where giving and receiving care is part of how strong communities work.
The exciting thing is, bits of that future already exist.
Across Victoria, people are already living it, building it and showing us what it could look like. Flock It is about finding them, sharing what they’re doing, and helping good ideas travel further.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
HELP US FIND WHAT’S ALREADY
TAKING FLIGHT.
Know a person, community, organisation or creator showing us a better way to grow older, connect across generations or care for one another?
Or maybe you’re part of something yourself.
We want to uncover the great ideas and everyday examples that might otherwise stay hidden, celebrate the people behind them and help more Australians see what’s possible.
Over $20,000 in prizes, storytelling and support is available, including $8,000 in cash prizes.

SO, WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
People, places and ideas that make better feel possible.

INDIVIDUALS
People of any age who are doing ageing differently.
Think: a local elder who holds a community together, an intergenerational friendship, or someone refusing the idea that later life means becoming less.
Examples:
Danni and Jill
A cross-generational pair of friends who are helping people think about and prepare better for the end of life.
Reuben Fox
An octogenarian piano player who brings music and care to his local shopping centre.
Heidi Clements
A 65-year-old, pro-ageing advocate challenging notions of invisibility and beauty standards for women over 50.

COMMUNITIES
Places where people are finding better ways to live and care together, across ages.
Think: neighbours who genuinely know each other, a co-housing community, or a town taking ownership of how people age well.
Examples:
The West Beacy Bunch
An inner city suburb where hundreds of households know each other, have fun together, and are there to support each other.
Miller’s Corner
A co-housing community where ageing in place happens amongst other generations – not cut off from them.
Castlemaine
A regional town working together to make ageing a source of resilience for the local community.

ORGANISATIONS
Organisations designing or delivering better ways to age, connect and care.
Think: a new model of care, a program that brings generations together, or a service redesigned around connection and contribution.
Examples:
Rockpool Collective
A start-up where caring for elders involves bringing along your kids.
Lively
A program that makes caring for older people an aspirational first job for young adults.
Generations Over Dinner
Bringing five generations around the same table to build connection and understanding.

CREATORS
People using creativity and the arts to change the stories we tell about ageing.
Think: a film, performance, artwork, book or body of work that shifts the way people see getting older.
Examples:
Elizabeth Hicklin
A 95-year-old woman telling a complex story of life, ageing and becoming at the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Max Flett
A young comedian sharing the story of his year living with a 76-year-old lady.
Edge of Life
A documentary that opens our minds and imaginations to what lies at the end of life.
