Flock It 2026 – Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to Flock It 2026, an initiative of Good Flock. We’ve tried to keep them simple. If you have any questions about Flock It or these Terms, please get in touch with us at hello@goodflock.org
1. About Flock It
Flock It is a statewide search for people, communities, organisations and creators who are showing what a richer culture of ageing could look like.
Through Flock It, Good Flock aims to discover, celebrate and amplify great people, ideas and examples from across Victoria – including those that might otherwise stay hidden.
We’re particularly interested in examples that help show what becomes possible when:
- people at all stages of life are valued for their strengths and contributions;
- generations are richly connected and mutually supportive; and
- care is shared, prioritised and supported in our communities.
Flock It is about discovering and amplifying many great examples, not just selecting four award recipients. Along the way, Good Flock may offer people, communities, organisations and creators we discover opportunities for storytelling, visibility, introductions, connection or other support.
Four Flock It Awards will also be offered:
- Individuals Award: $500 cash prize
- Communities Award: $1,500 cash prize
- Organisations Award: $3,000 cash prize
- Creators Award: $3,000 cash prize
Award recipients will be offered additional storytelling, visibility, connections or other support tailored to them.
2. Key dates
Flock It 2026 opens on Friday, 21st August 2026 and submissions close on Friday, 20th November 2026 at 11.59pm AEST.
Shortlisted nominees may be contacted after submissions close to confirm their interest and, where helpful, provide further information.
Award recipients are expected to be announced by Friday, 11th December 2026.
Good Flock may extend or change these dates if needed. Any significant changes will be published on the Flock It webpage.
3. Who can make a submission?
There is no minimum age to make a Flock It submission.
If you are under 18, you must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian to participate. If you are under 15, Good Flock will require your parent or legal guardian to provide consent on your behalf.
Good Flock may also seek confirmation of parent or guardian consent before progressing a submission, awarding a prize or publicly featuring a young person.
You can:
- nominate another person, community, organisation or creator; or
- tell us about yourself, a community you belong to, an organisation you represent, or creative work you are involved in.
You don’t need to be formally associated with the person, place or project you’re telling us about.
You can make more than one submission, and the same person, community, organisation or creator may be submitted by more than one person.
Flock It 2026 is focused on Victoria. The person, community, organisation, creative work or activity submitted must have a meaningful connection to Victoria. This could mean being based in Victoria, taking place in Victoria, or having a significant connection or contribution to Victorian communities.
Good Flock will determine eligibility where a submission does not fit neatly within these categories.
4. What can be submitted?
We’re looking for people, communities, organisations and creators that align with the spirit and purpose of Flock It and help show what a richer culture of ageing could look like in practice.
Examples can be large or small, established or emerging, formal or informal. You don’t need professional impact data, a polished website or a fully developed program to be considered.
Submissions can be made in one of four categories:
- Individuals
- Communities
- Organisations
- Creators
If we think a submission fits better in another category, Good Flock may move it to that category before judging.
5. What happens to submissions?
Good Flock will review submissions to identify people, places and ideas we would like to learn more about, celebrate or amplify.
This may include contacting the person who made the submission or, where appropriate, the person, community, organisation or creator who was nominated.
Being submitted to Flock It does not mean that a person or organisation has agreed to be publicly featured, promoted or associated with Good Flock.
If you nominate somebody else, Good Flock will seek appropriate permission from the people involved before publishing their personal story, images or other personal information.
People and organisations discovered through Flock It may also be invited to participate in Good Flock stories, events, activities, collaborations, introductions or other opportunities. Participation in these opportunities is voluntary and is not dependent on receiving a Flock It Award.
6. How award recipients will be selected
Good Flock will first review eligible submissions and select a shortlist in each category.
In shortlisting submissions, we will consider:
Alignment with the cultural shifts
How strongly does the example demonstrate one or more of the shifts Flock It is seeking to make visible – valuing people across all stages of life, strengthening connection and mutual support across generations, and creating more collective approaches to care?
Examples that meaningfully bring several of these shifts together may be particularly strong, but submissions do not need to address all three to be considered.
Potential to inspire or spread
Could the example, idea or story travel beyond its current context – through replication, adaptation, storytelling, inspiration or wider influence?
Evidence of impact or influence
Is there evidence – formal or informal – that the person, community, organisation or creative work is already making a meaningful difference?
We recognise that impact can take many forms. We are not necessarily looking for the biggest initiative, the largest audience or the most polished evidence.
Potential for broader amplification
Could greater visibility, connection or support help this example contribute to broader cultural change?
Good Flock may contact shortlisted nominees to learn more about what they are doing and confirm that they are happy to be considered for an award and involved in Flock It.
7. Final judging
Shortlisted submissions will be considered by an independent judging panel appointed by Good Flock.
Panel members will be asked to consider which shortlisted examples most powerfully:
- show what a richer culture of ageing could look like;
- could inspire, influence or offer useful possibilities to others; and
- deserve greater recognition and amplification.
Panel members will rank their preferred recipients in each category. Good Flock will combine these rankings to determine the highest-ranked submission.
If the final result in a category is tied, Good Flock will determine the award recipient with reference to the published criteria above.
Judging necessarily involves judgement and discretion. The decisions of the judging panel and Good Flock are final.
8. Awards
One selected recipient in each category will receive the cash prize listed in section 1.
Cash prizes are awards in recognition of the recipient and their work. They are not grants, do not need to be spent on a particular activity or purpose, and are not subject to an acquittal process.
Where an award is made to a community or informal group that is not a legal entity, Good Flock will work with the recipient to determine an appropriate person or entity to receive the prize on the group’s behalf.
Award recipients may also be offered tailored opportunities for storytelling, visibility, introductions, participation in Good Flock activities or other support. These opportunities will depend on the recipient and what is useful and appropriate. Good Flock does not guarantee that this support will have a particular monetary value or lead to any particular outcome.
Award recipients will be contacted before being publicly announced. A person, community, organisation or creator nominated by someone else is under no obligation to accept an award or participate in Flock It.
If an award recipient cannot be contacted within a reasonable period, declines the award, or is found to be ineligible before the prize is paid, Good Flock may select another recipient.
9. Ownership of ideas, stories and intellectual property
Your ideas and materials remain yours.
Making a submission to Flock It, being shortlisted or receiving an award does not transfer ownership to Good Flock of any ideas, intellectual property, creative work, stories, photographs, videos or other materials belonging to a submitter, nominee or award recipient.
If you upload or provide material as part of a submission, you give Good Flock permission to view, store and use that material for the limited purposes of administering and assessing Flock It and following up on the submission.
If Good Flock would like to publicly reproduce, publish or adapt material you have submitted, we will seek any further permission required from the relevant rights holder.
Part of Flock It is helping good ideas and examples reach more people. This may include describing, discussing or linking to publicly available work and ideas, and – with appropriate permissions where required – telling the stories of people and initiatives discovered through Flock It.
Receiving an award does not give Good Flock ownership of, or exclusive rights over, the recipient’s work, ideas or intellectual property.
If you upload photographs, videos or other material containing other identifiable people, please make sure they are comfortable with you sharing that material with Good Flock.
10. Privacy and consent
Good Flock will collect and use personal information provided through Flock It to:
- administer and assess submissions;
- communicate with people who make submissions;
- contact nominees where appropriate;
- administer the awards; and
- explore relevant opportunities to learn more about, celebrate, connect with or amplify people and ideas discovered through Flock It.
Good Flock may retain information about people, communities, organisations, creators and ideas submitted through Flock It after the awards have concluded, where it is useful to our ongoing work to discover, understand, connect with and amplify examples of a richer culture of ageing. Personal information will be stored, retained and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with Good Flock’s Privacy Policy.
If you provide someone else’s private contact details, please only do so if you are comfortable that they would be happy for Good Flock to contact them. You do not need to provide a nominee’s contact details if you do not have them.
Submitting to Flock It does not automatically subscribe you or a nominee to Good Flock’s general mailing list. Anyone who wishes to receive Good Flock news and updates can opt in separately.
Good Flock will seek appropriate consent before publicly sharing personal stories, private images or other personal information gathered through a Flock It submission.
11. Keeping Flock It fair and safe
Good Flock may decide not to consider, shortlist, publish or progress a submission if it:
- falls outside the eligibility requirements or purpose of Flock It;
- contains information we reasonably believe to be materially false or misleading;
- infringes another person’s rights;
- contains unlawful, discriminatory, abusive or otherwise inappropriate material;
- creates significant privacy, safety or reputational concerns; or
- would otherwise be inappropriate for Good Flock to promote or associate with the initiative.
If significant information comes to light before an award has been paid that would have affected a recipient’s eligibility or selection, Good Flock may withdraw the award and select another recipient.
Once a cash prize has been paid, Good Flock will not ordinarily require it to be repaid. However, Good Flock may cease further promotion, support or association with an award recipient if circumstances arise that make continued involvement inappropriate.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights Good Flock may have in relation to fraud or other unlawful conduct.
12. Changes or cancellation
If circumstances outside Good Flock’s reasonable control affect Flock It, we may modify, postpone or cancel part or all of the initiative.
Where practical, we will communicate significant changes through the Flock It webpage.
