Over three months in 2024, Savannah Fishel visited 54 communal homes across the United States and Australia, from ecovillages to co-ops and everything in between.
Her report, ‘Beyond the White Picket Fence: A companion for intergenerational communal housing,’ brings together stories and reflections from these communities, exploring how communal living is created and sustained, and what it reveals about housing as a form of social infrastructure.
